Synopsis:
After a severe concussion suffered in the war, Ukrainian soldier Yaroslav loses his memory. He is sent for rehabilitation in Lithuania, where he meets Dr. Vilma. She sees in his eyes a reflection of her fallen beloved and decides to help Yaroslav not only restore his memory but also rediscover himself.
Together they set off on a journey to the places of his childhood, where Yaroslav slowly recalls his dreams and memories. One of those dreams was to make films. Vilma buys a ruined cinema in Yaroslav’s native village to restore it and showcase new Ukrainian cinema. However, their plans intertwine with a film crew using the cinema as a set. Among the actors is a man portraying Hryhorii Skovoroda. Their conversations become a source of wisdom and inspiration for Yaroslav, and together with Vilma he begins to create his own film.
Throughout the journey, Yaroslav and Vilma not only recover the past but also build a new future. They face difficult choices, internal conflicts, and the dark shadows of the past. But love, support, and faith help them find meaning in life and heal their wounds.
“Medicine for a Genius” is a film about how the past shapes our present, how the wisdom of previous generations can become the foundation for a new life, and how love can transform even the deepest trauma into a source of strength and inspiration. It is a story that reminds us that everyone has the chance to start with a blank page, even when it feels like everything is lost.
